Good teams find a way to win even on days when they don’t play their best. The Gainesville baseball team may be ready to take on the mantle of a good team after blowing a three-run lead and then rallying in the bottom of the seventh for a 7-6 win over East Hall Friday at Ivey-Watson Field.

Tech-B.C. set for DH Sunday; No. 6 Jackets still perfect in ACC play
Saturday's baseball game between Georgia Tech and Boston College was postponed due to rain in the Atlanta area. The two teams will instead play a doubleheader Sunday, beginning at 11 a.m.

No. 1 Dogs drop DH at Alabama
Brandon May went 2-for-4 with a grand slam and six RBI to lead Alabama to an 11-5 victory over No. 1 Georgia in game two of a double header as the Crimson Tide won both games of the twinbill Saturday at Sewell-Thomas Stadium. Alabama won the first game, 9-5, to snap Georgia’s 14-game winning streak.

Wayne Chism scored a career-high 27 points, Tyler Smith added 23 and Tennessee beat Auburn 94-85 Saturday to advance to its first Southeastern Conference championship game in 20 years.

Bulldogs advance to SEC finals, look for automatic NCAA bid
Rick Stansbury laid out Mississippi State's case for a spot in the NCAA tournament. The coach stopped short of saying the Bulldogs have already played their way into a NCAA appearance, however they'll get a chance to ensure it themselves after upsetting No. 20 LSU 67-57 Saturday to advance to Sunday's SEC title game against Tennessee.

Final Four: Elephants miss out on storybook ending
For Gainesville seniors George Manomano and Juwon Jeffries, their first trip to the state basketball Final Four in Macon was everything they thought it would be. Except for the storybook ending. The Elephants' quest for their first state title since 1984 ended Friday at the hands of Westover in a 59-56 loss in the Class AAA semifinals at the Macon Coliseum.

Baseball: Indians win slugfest against Chestatee
Lumpkin County baseball coach Nicki Jenkins warned his team Wednesday against taking an improving Chestatee team lightly. They got the message pounding out 22 hits against five Chestatee pitchers in a 20-12 Region 7-AAA win at Chestatee Field.
