Baseball: Wednesday could be a key day for several area regions

By Jeff Hart Sports Reporter

Round 2 of some key region series around northeast Georgia will continue on Wednesday.

In Region 8-4A North, sixth-ranked Cherokee Bluff and seventh-ranked North Hall will continue their huge battle for first place in Region 8-4A North. The Bears (17-4, 5-2 Region 8-4A North) rallied to take the opening game on the road against the Trojans (10-11, 5-2 Region 8-4A North) and now will go for the series win at home.

Meanwhile, fifth-ranked East Forsyth (15-6, 6-4 Region 8-4A North) will try and pull within a game of the Bluff-North Hall loser, playing host to East Hall (2-18, 0-7 Region 8-4A North) in the second game of their series.

In Region 8-6A, Apalachee and North Forsyth remained tied atop the standings after wins on Monday. The Raiders (15-7, 9-2 Region 8-6A) head to Lanier (8-14, 4-7 Region 8-6A) while the Wildcats (13-10, 9-2 Region 8-6A) head to Habersham Central (15-5, 7-4 Region 8-6A). Habersham Central is trying to stay in the race for the region title and needs a win at home.
