Suspect arrested in connection with Peachtree Corners homicide

The suspect in a fatal shooting that took place on September 5 in Peachtree Corners turned himself in to authorities over the weekend.

The Gwinnett County Police Department said in a Tuesday morning press release Jay Dante Crump, 21, of Peachtree Corners, turned himself in at the Gwinnett County Jail on Sunday.

Crump was charged with aggravated assault, felony murder and possession of a firearm during a felony for the shooting death of Dareese Ellis, 28, of Peachtree Corners.

Ellis and Crump were staying at a hotel when the shooting took place on Jimmy Carter Boulevard.

Officers found Ellis dead at about 5:45 p.m. on Sept. 5 in the 7040 block of Jimmy Carter Boulevard.
