Seven injured in Saturday crash near Helen

By Caleb Hutchins Assistant News Director

A three-vehicle crash in northern White County left seven people injured Saturday afternoon.

Georgia State Patrol officials said the crash happened around 5:15 p.m. when a black Toyota 4Runner failed to yield after stopping at the stop sign at the intersection of Duncan Bridge Road and Helen Highway. It was then hit by a white Toyota Highlander that was going north on Helen Highway.

The Highlander crossed the center line after the collision and hit a southbound rail buggy.

The driver of the 4Runner, Sierra Fenton, age 34 of Cleveland, suffered minor injuries and was taken to a nearby hospital. One of her two children also had minor injuries. All three passengers in the Highlander and both passengers of the rail buggy were also taken to a nearby hospital with minor injuries.

Ambulances from White, Hall, Habersham and Lumpkin counties had to be called due to the number of patients involved in the incident.

No charges have been announced by the state patrol as of Monday afternoon.
