Overnight storm conditions in North Georgia leaves cleanup projects for safety and utility crews

By Steve Winslow Anchor/Reporter

Overnight storms and high wind gusts are making for some interesting road conditions in isolated areas of northeast Georgia today.

Currently, Habersham County safety crews are clearing a downed tree that's blocking Highway 197 Northbound at SR 255.  Use alternates in that area of Clarkesville this morning.

Also, about 700 Habersham EMC customers in White County were without service due to downed trees on power lines as of 9:00 a.m. Friday.

HEMC officials say their crews have been working overnight to restore power to the disabled areas in northeast White County.

Commuters should use caution and allow for extra travel times during the morning hours, especially in rural areas of the region.
