The Banks County Sheriff's Office arrested a Commerce man Thursday on an aggravated child molestation charge following a traffic stop.

According to a press release from the agency, Samuel McDuffie, 60, was charged with a single count of felony aggravated child molestation.

An earlier social media post from the agency said they conducted a traffic stop on McDuffie to serve the felony warrant at about 4:40 p.m. on Highway 59.

"Prior to the stop, deputies received information the suspect was possibly armed," the release said. "After arresting the suspect, a firearm with multiple fully loaded magazines were located near the driver’s seat."

The incident is still under investigation and additional charges may be forthcoming.
