Registration open for Forsyth County's second annual Citizens' Academy

By Sydney Hencil Anchor/Reporter
Registration is now open for Forsyth County’s second annual Citizens’ Academy which provides participants a look at how the Forsyth County Government functions.

This is a free and immersive program. Participants will have the opportunity to take classes with officials from the Finance, Fire, Planning and Community Development departments and many more.

The Citizens’ Academy is designed to educate residents about the Forsyth County Government and inspire them to become community leaders themselves, according to County Manager David McKee.

Participants must be at least 18 years of age and either a resident of Forsyth County, a small business owner in the county or attend a college or university located in the county. Participants must also be willing to make a commitment to attend the full program which will be held twice a month from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Wednesdays beginning May 24 through Aug. 30.

Those interested in applying for the Citizen’s Academy must submit a completed application available by clicking here. Selected applicants will be asked to complete a confidentiality and liability form prior to the start of the program. Selection is on a first-come, first-served basis as space in the program is limited.
