Authorities release name of man found dead after February Lula fire

Hall County authorities released Thursday afternoon the name of the man who was found dead after an apartment fire in Lula on Feb. 19.

According to a press release from the Hall County Sheriff's Office, Anthony Cavanaugh Murphy, 68, lived in the studio apartment attached to a barn on the property in the 8800 block of Forrester Road. Investigators have notified Murphy's next of kin.

Hall County Fire Rescue responded to the fire on Feb. 19, finding Murphy's body during their search of the building. 

Crews received the call for the apartment fire while they were battling a house fire about one mile away on the same property.

The Hall County Sheriff's Office is continuing the death investigation. Autopsy results are pending, and a cause of death has not been determined.

The Hall County Fire Marshal's Office is handling the fire investigation.
