An Alto man who was recently convicted on charges including Child Molestation has died one day after being booked into the Banks County Jail.

Banks County Jail records indicate that Danny Nelson Hardin, age 69, was booked into the jail on Wednesday, November 29. An obituary from Memorial Park Funeral Home indicated that Hardin died the following day on November 30 at Piedmont Athens Regional.

Little information regarding his cause of death has been released as of Tuesday afternoon, however, Georgia Bureau of Investigations officials have reported that foul play is currently not suspected in his death.

Hardin was convicted in Banks County Superior Court on two counts of Child Molestation and two counts of First Degree Cruelty to Children from incidents that allegedly occurred in 2016 and 2017, according to county court records. The incidents allegedly occurred at his home in Alto.

Warrants were issued for Hardin's arrest in August of 2018. He was sentenced by Judge Nicholas Primm to 15 years confinement to be followed by 5 years of probation.
