Lightning from a summer storm injured four people at a popular Rabun County camp.
“Rabun County EMS and Rabun County Fire Services responded to Camp High Harbor at Lake Burton on an initial report of four lightning strike victims,” said Assistant Fire Chief Justin Upchurch. “Once on scene, it was determined that the patients were in proximity to the water at the time lightning struck close.
“All patients were conscious upon fire and EMS arrival,” Upchurch said. “EMS transported two to Mountain Lakes Medical Center with the other patients being evaluated by camp medical personnel.”
Upchurch could not provide the total number of patients affected or their age/gender, not could he provide an update of their conditions.
