A group of  teenagers who belong to the Gainesville Police Department Explorer 297 Post recently entered the annual "We're Not Gonna Take It" video contest sponsored by the State Attorney General's Office; the teens came in as runners-up in the 2018 contest.

The topic for the contest was the continuing opioid crisis in Georgia and the impact it has on young people in the state.

Team leader Owen Ozaki told AccessWDUN the 30-second video was shot in one day and took about a week to edit.

"The scene depicted us at a party and there were prescription pills involved, so someone overdosed," Ozaki said. "Then we covered how the 911 medical amnesty law relates to that."

All members of the production team had parts in the video, according to Ozaki.

In addition to Ozaki, members of the team included Jaileen Brown, Tinisha Watson,  Alejandro Perez, Angelie Ramirez and Hector Becerril.

The video will appear on television and can also be viewed on YouTube. You can follow Explorer Post 297 on Facebook.

Winner of the 2018 contest was the Douglas County College and Career Institute.
