By The Associated Press

AUGUSTA — The University of North Georgia women's soccer players Renee VanHorn and McKenzie Anderson were given Peach Belt Conference weekly honors Monday afternoon as announced by the league office. VanHorn was named PBC Player of the Week, while Anderson earned Defender of the Week.

VanHorn collected three goals and one assist in a pair of Peach Belt Conference wins on the week. She scored one goal and added an assist in Wednesday's 3-2 road win at No. 2 Columbus State. The win snapped CSU's nation-leading 34-home match winning streak. She then scored twice in Saturday's 5-0 home win over Francis Marion. The junior from Marietta, Georgia, leads the Peach Belt in assists and is tied for first in goals scored.

Anderson led the Nighthawks' back line to the 2-0-0 week, keeping No. 2 CSU to just two goals with one of those scored in the final two minutes of play. She went on to record an assist in the 5-0 win over the Patriots Saturday evening. Anderson's assist was the first of the season and the third of her career. This is the third time in her collegiate career that Anderson has been named Defender of the Week.

VanHorn and Anderson will lead the Nighthawks back on the field on Wednesday against Young Harris in the Battle of Blood Mountain. The match is scheduled for a 5 p.m. start.
