Duluth senator files paperwork to run for Lt. Governor's office

By AccessWDUN Staff
State Senator David Shafer of Duluth appears to be making a run for the Lt. Governor's office.

Shafer filed paperwork this past Friday with the Georgia Government Transparency and Campaign Finance Commission.

"I have spent the five weeks since the Legislative Session ended on the telephone and in meetings, talking with and listening to nearly 1200 of my fellow Georgians, old friends and new. The response has been heart warming. I have filed paperwork to begin running for Lieutenant Governor of Georgia," Shafer wrote on a Facebook page.

Shafer is a Republican, who has served as president pro-tem of the State Senate.

He joins Republican Rep. Geoff Duncan of Cumming in the race. Duncan filed his paperwork in April.
