Tennis: North Hall girls, GHS boys take wins in rivalry showdown

GAINESVILLE — The The North Hall and Gainesville tennis teams split a pair of matches in their annual rivalry match on Monday.

The North Hall girls won 4-1 while the Gainesville boys took a tight 3-2 victory. 

In the girls match, the Lady Trojans swept the singles dropping just two games. Anna Montgomery deeatedf Hailey Frankum 6-0, 6-0; Lauren Davis beat Grayson Wagner 6-0, 6-0; and Christen Barnes defeated Ali Wagner 6-0, 6-2. The North Hall No. 1 doubles team of Sydney Patterson and Annalise Gregory defeated Madi Kiser and Paige Ackerman 6-2, 6-2. The Gainesville girls got their only win at No. 2 doubles with Paige Patterson  and Grace O'keefe beating Carsen Baumgardner/Raquel Kallab 6-1, 6-3.

The Lady Trojans finished the regular season 13-4 and enter Tuesday's Region 7-AAA Tournament as the No. 1 seed.

In the boys match, Gainesville swept the doubles and got a win at No. 3 singles to pull out the victory.
North Hall's Masa Kobayashi defeated Gainesville's Joseph Diaz 6-3, 6-1 at No. 1 singles and Daniel Martin beat Mathew Carter 6-3, 6-1 at No. 2 singles.
In doubles, Gainesville's No. 1 team of Roan Thompson and Michael Head beat Adam Turcotte and Kody Dills 6-4, 6-1 while the No. 2 team of Thomas Carter and Max West Shawn Wallhausen and Jackson Roush 6-0, 6-2.

The North Hall boys finished the regular season at 8-9and enter the region tournament as the No. 2 seed.

The Region 7-AAA tournament will be held at Dawson County High School on Tuesday (girls rounds thru semifinal), Wednesday (boys rounds thru semifinal), and Thursday (finals and consolation).
