Tennis: Cherokee Bluff sweeps Jefferson

FLOWERY BRANCH, Ga. — The Cherokee Bluff girls and boys tennis teams swept Jefferson at home on Wednesday. 

The Bears (14-4) defeated the Dragons 4-1, while the Lady Bears (10-7) won 3-2. 

In girls' action, Bryson Bishop beat Amanda Jacobs, 6-0, 6-4, in the No. 1 singles. Presley Rosen bested Mady Smith, 6-2, 6-1, in the No. 2 singles, and Alyssa Baricevic beat Josie Fuller, 6-1, 6-1, in the No. 3 singles. 

Jefferson won both doubles matches. Isobel Summerour and Emma Coulter beat Erica Rosen and London McDaniel 6-4, 6-2, and Natalie Morrow and Ryleigh Bunch beat Camila Guevara and Callie Vokal in the tiebreaker set, 6-3. 

On the boys' side, Bluff won all three singles matches. No. 1 James Rivenbark beat Ty Collinsworth, 6-0, 6-0. Boston Murphy took the win in No. 2 singles over Jacob Meissner, 6-0, 6-2, and Jett Hewette earned the win, 6-1, 6-3, over Conner Mantooth. 

The two teams split doubles action, with Jefferson’s No. 1 doubles team of Jake Dorough and Davis Eason beating Nick Bellew and Brady Woodward in the tiebreaker set, 11-9. 

Bluff’s Arya Chawla and Baylor Oleksinski knocked off Will McDonald and James Gunn, 6-3, 6-1, in the No. 2 doubles match.
