UPDATE: Rain washes out Wednesday prep schedule; Jefferson-Oconee moved to Saturday

By Jeff Hart Sports Reporter

The nearly day-long rain that doused northeast Georgia on Wednesday wiped out the entire prep schedule for the afternoon.

Most of the action was baseball with the biggest game, Jefferson at Oconee County in a battle for first place in Region 8-AAAA, was first moved to Thursday and now has moved to Saturday at 1 p.m. in Watkinsville. Winder-Barrow at Habersham Central in Region 8-AAAAAA also was postponed.

The South Gwinnett at Buford contest for Thursday is still on. First pitch is set for 5:55 p.m. at McQuaig Field.

Coaches in the area said they will have to address field conditions on Thursday to see if games moved will be able to be be played. Georgia High School Association rules mandate that teams try to play on the next available day, if able.
