MONROE — East Jackson opened its Region 8-AAA schedule with a 7-5 victory over Monroe Area Tuesday.
The Eagles (4-11, 1-0 Region 8-AAA) snapped a three-game losing streak with the win.
Cody Nix earned the win on the mound going the distance striking out 15 and scattering six hits. Only one of the runs was earned.
Austin Thomas had the big blow for East Jackson with a Grand Slam and dove in five for the game. Josh Adair had a double and a triple for the Eagles.
Brian Puckett, Wes Bruce and Luke Hadden each had hits for East Jackson.
The two teams will be back at it on Friday in Jefferson in a doubleheader.
