DAHLONEGA — Alex Grant scored a goal in the tenth minute, but Lincoln Memorial battled back to defeat the University of North Georgia men's soccer team, 2-1, Wednesday afternoon at the UNG Soccer Complex. The Nighthawks fall to 5-6 with the loss.

"Early in the game, we had some real good chances to extend our lead," said head men's soccer coach Pat Parris. "We have to put this one away and come back for a big conference game Saturday."

UNG got on the board first when Ivan Acimovic sent the ball past Railsplitter goalie Caio Bergamo right to the feet of Grant, who was able to tap in his sixth goal of the season to put the Nighthawks on top early.

LMU started putting pressure on after the North Georgia goal and earned a man advantage after a red card was issued in the 41st minute. Ronaldo de Jesus scored off a free kick in the 69th minute, followed three minutes later by Felipe Machado's goal in the 72nd to earn the win.

NOTES
- The Railsplitters had a 21-10 advantage in shots, including outshooting UNG, 11-3, in shots on goal.

- Matt Sharman made nine saves in the contest for North Georgia.

NEXT UP
The Nighthawks will jump back into Peach Belt play with a 7:30 p.m. matchup on the road at USC Aiken on Saturday, October 14.
