Troopers: Poor tire tread, wet roads to blame for fatal Hall County wreck

Poor tire treads and wet roads likely contributed to a fatal accident Sunday on Candler Road that claimed the lives of two children, law enforcement officials said.

The wreck happened near Tanners Mill Road shortly before 2 p.m.

Sabrina McConnell, 25, lost control of her vehicle when she was negotiating a curve, tried to correct and hit a tree, said Sgt. Anthony Coleman with the Georgia State Patrol.

Two children, 4- and 1-year-old, died in the wreck, while McConnell and two adult passengers were injured and taken to Northeast Georgia Medical Center.

Their conditions were not immediately available Monday afternoon.

Troopers are still investigating the accident, and the list of charges pending against McConnell has not been finalized.

No other cars were involved in the wreck, and nobody else will face charges in the case, Coleman said.
