By Jeff Hart Sports Reporter

FLOWERY BRANCH — Flowery Branch has tapped Prince Avenue Christian coach Heath Kennedy as its next baseball coach.

The school announced Tuesday that Kennedy will take over for Scott Myers, who stepped down after five seasons to go into private business. Kennedy has a career record of 206-89 in 10 seasons as a head coach at Winder-Barrow, Hebron Christian, Elbert County, and Prince Avenue Christian. He led Hebron to the 2011 Class A Private state championship.

“I’m extremely honored and excited about this outstanding opportunity to both teach and coach at Flowery Branch," Kennedy said. "I look forward to continuing the tradition of developing young men in the community, the classroom, and in competition. We will commit to building a team based on fundamental baseball, situations, and of course individual development to be an advocate for those who aspire to play at the next level.”

In his 10 seasons he has won four region titles, was Georgia Dugout Club Coach of the Year in 2011, was voted Region Coach of the Year three times and has coached over 25 players who have gone on to play at the collegiate or professional level.
