Forsyth County double shooting suspect captured in Maryland

A Cumming man accused of shooting two people in Forsyth County on May 30 has been captured in Maryland, authorities said.

Ronald Lofland, 47, was captured by U.S. Marshals around 3:00 p.m. Monday, according to Deputy First Class Epifanio Rodriguez with the Forsyth County Sheriff's Office in a phone interview.

He was found near the Delaware border, though Rodriguez said authorities have not released the nature of Lofland's arrest, or how they were able to track him.

His vehicle was found abandoned in Buford a day after the initial shooting, though Rodriguez said he isn't sure if any of the information gleaned from that piece of evidence led or contributed to Lofland's capture.

There is no word yet on how quickly Lofland will be extradited back to Georgia.

Rodriguez said until Lofland is brought back, authorities won't know what charges the suspect will face, though Rodriguez said it will "be in the ballpark of aggravated assault, most likely."

Both victims suffered non-life threatening injuries in the shooting incident, which authorities said was domestic-related.
