United Way of Hall County announced Monday that Joy Griffin has been selected as the next president and chief professional officer (CPO) of United Way of Hall County, succeeding current President and CPO Jackie Wallace.
“Joy’s experience and relationship with our donors and board members makes this an easy transition,” said Wallace. “She has a deep-rooted passion for helping people. Couple that passion with her experience and I feel confident that she will be able to continue to rally our community together around the mission of United Way, uniting people, organizations and resources to improve lives in Hall County.”
Griffin, who was selected from among 82 applicants for the job, has served as the vice president of resource development at United Way of Hall County since 2010. She previously served as the community manager for the American Cancer Society in Hall County. Griffin was born and raised in Gainesville and is a graduate of Gainesville High School. She received a Bachelor of Arts in Communication from Georgia State University. She is married to Bryan Griffin and has two children, Jacob (9) and Rhett (7).
“My passion is to serve others and invest in my community. I am honored and humbled to give back to my community in this capacity,” said Griffin. “United Way of Hall County has a rich tradition and outstanding board leadership. It is a privilege to serve along-side them and follow in the footsteps of Jackie Wallace, a true community trailblazer and mentor.”
Wallace, who has led the organization since 2007 and served in various positions with United Way since 2000, announced her plans to retire last October. Wallace will remain in her current role until May 2016.
