The wintry weather in northeast Georgia forced the cancellation of most of the weekend basketball schedule Friday and Saturday. But, teams will have to make up region contests which should make for a busy and exciting final two-week stretch of the regular season.
Among the key games for Tuesday:
The Dawson County girls try to keep pace for second place in Region 7-AAA traveling to Franklin County.
The Jefferson teams entertain the top-ranked Morgan County teams on Tuesday in Region 8-AAA action.
In some key boys matchups, Flowery Branch heads to rival Gainesville while Cedar Shoals heads to Salem in Region 8-AAAAA.
In Region 8-AAAA, the Stephens County boys go to White County in a bid to stay undefeated and in second place. A win for the Warriors coupled with a North Hall win over Johnson would put the two teams in a tie for second place. North Hall plays host to Johnson. The Monroe Area boys travel to region unbeaten and first-place Buford.
In Region 8-AAA, the Jackson County boys head to Elbert County trying to hang onto second place. East Jackson plays at Oconee County with the Eagles trying to get into second place and Jefferson plays host to No. 1 Morgan County.
In Region 8-AA, the Rabun County boys lead the way and play on the road against an improving Social Circle squad. Also, Riverside Military travels to Union County in a huge battle for second place.
In Region 8-A, Tallulah Falls travels to region unbeaten Lakeview Academy as the Lions try to take a three game lead in the region with four games left.
