Kyle Thompson, MD, joins Northeast Georgia Physcians Group cardiovascular and thoracic surgery

GAINESVILLE – J. Clifton Hastings, III, MD, FACS; A. Daniel Winston, MD; J. Alan Wolfe, MD; Necole Acton, NP-C; Haley Boyce, PA-C; Lindsay Drevlow, PA-C; Josh Lowman, PA-C; Joy Steinkraus, PA-C; and the staff at Northeast Georgia Physicians Group (NGPG) Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgery welcome Kyle Thompson, MD, to the practice.

Dr. Thompson’s introduction to cardiothoracic surgery started after he graduated from the University of Alabama at Birmingham and went on to work as a Cardiothoracic Surgical Physician Assistant in Jackson, Mississippi. After a few years assisting, he went on to receive his medical degree from the University of Mississippi. Also, prior to completing his Cardiothoracic Surgical residency at the Medical University of South Carolina, Dr. Thompson took a 63-day philanthropic bike ride across the United States. The “Journey of Hope” ride started in San Francisco and ended in Washington, D.C., raising awareness and money across the nation for people with mental and physical disabilities.

NGPG Cardiovascular Thoracic Surgery performs more than 600 cases a year, specializing in conditions of the heart, lungs, esophagus, diaphragm and great vessels including: Coronary Artery Bypass Grafting (CABG), minimally invasive heart valve surgery, aortic aneurysm repair, congenital heart disorders, Transmycardial Laser Revascularization (TMR), lung disease (including malignant and benign), esophageal cancer, reflux disease, Achalasia, Zenker’s diverticulum, surgery of the chest wall, Minimally invasive vein harvesting for CABG.
