By Associated Press

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) A luxury car salesman has been sentenced to 80 months in federal prison for defrauding several people including former NBA player Julius ``Dr. J'' Erving.

Multiple media outlets report that 57-year-old Michael G. Brown of Alpharetta, Georgia was sentenced by U.S. District Judge Thomas Anderson in Memphis on Tuesday after pleading guilty to multiple counts of fraud.

U.S. Atty. Ed Stanton's office says Brown sold upscale automobiles through his business, Valkry Corporation, but only partially satisfied the orders and sometimes never delivered the vehicles at all. Valkry Corporation has offices in Collierville, Tennessee and the Atlanta area.

According to the indictment, Julies Erving wired Brown about $250,000 to purchase a 2015 Rolls-Royce Wraith. Brown failed to deliver the car and did not refund Erving's money.
