Cleveland detour to start Monday

By AccessWDUN staff

CLEVELAND - The Georgia Department of Transportation says a detour associated with work on the Cleveland ByPass is scheduled to begin Monday.

Tesnatee Gap Valley Road at its intersection with State Route 115 will be closed so the grade of the intersection can be raised about 8 feet. The maximum time for the closure is 15 days, according to GDOT officials, and the intersection should reopen by July 21.

“With such a significant grade change, traffic cannot continue to use the roadway as the work occurs. The signed detour route is 3.6 miles long and will direct traffic up SR 115 to Wilford Ash Senior Parkway then to State Route 11/US 129 to the northern end of Tesnatee Gap Valley Road..." explained Harold Mull, Georgia DOT District Construction Engineer.
