Woman charged after dead cats found in house

LOGANVILLE - A Loganville woman has been charged with animal cruelty after authorities found six dead cats in the garage at her home.

Gwinnett County Police told Atlanta's Channel 2 News they were in the process of evicting Lila Sue Brennan, 60, from the house on Ozora Road when they made the discovery. Investigators said there was no food or water in the garage and it appeared the cats had tried to claw their way out of the enclosure.

The dead animals have been sent to the University of Georgia for necropsies, and depending on the results, Brennan could face additional charges.

Authorities said they found three dogs on the premises, as well. They said the dogs's fur was matted, but otherwise, they showed no other signs of mistreatment. The dogs were taken to Gwinnett County Animal Control.
