Vague threat means extra police activity at SCHS

By B.J. Williams
TOCCOA - There was extra police presence at Stephens County High School Thursday following a scribbled threat on a bathroom wall at the school two weeks ago.

Assistant Schools Superintendent Jason Capp did not release the exact content of the message, but did say that it referenced September 30; thus, the added police presence.

Capp said that Thursday had been a "regular" school day and had been very quiet.

He noted that the school resource office had invited additional deputies onto campus just to make sure there was nothing officials had missed in their initial investigation.

Capp said, "We don't want to overreact, but we don't want to underreact, either."

He noted that there is protocoal in place for the schools to follow if such incidents occur. And, he said he had spoken personally to only one parent who had expressed alarm over the message.
