The home course advantage never quite panned out for Gainesville in the Class 6A state tournament.

The Gainesville boys golf team teed off Tuesday morning at 9:50 a.m. in hopes of a top-5 finish in the Class 6A state tournament at Chattahoochee Golf Club.

Cherokee Bluff's Alisa Presley turned in a Day 1 best even-par 72 to lead the field in the Monday Class 4A state tournament at Fields Golf Club.
