Boys soccer: Gainesville opens region play with win over West Forsyth

By AccessWDUN Staff

CUMMING — Gainesville snapped a two-match losing streak and opened Region 6-7A play in thrilling fashion taking a 2-1 victory over West Forsyth in boys soccer action on Friday on the road.

The Red Elephants (3-3, 1-0 Region 6-7A) got goals from Miguel Galaviz and Pablo Tamayo. But it was their defensive play that was the key.

Tamayo, Marcos Moreno, David Michanca, and Endy Alarcon all helped keep the Wolverines at bay. Keeper David Esquivel also kept Gainesville within striking distance with two big saves in the first half while the match was still scoreless.

Gainesville next will play host to West Hall on Tuesday.
