The City of Sugar Hill has announced plans to test its outdoor weather alert sirens the first Wednesday of each month for the rest of the calendar year.
City officials said there will be a test this Wednesday, June 5 at noon.
During the siren test, the siren will wail a steady tone for 20 seconds and stop.
The outdoor siren system is not designed to alert anyone that is in a home or business, but it is intended to be heard outside and has automatic activation in order to warn residents outside to seek shelter. Anyone who wants to receive text and email alerts can sign up for alerts via this link.
If bad weather is present on the first Wednesday of the month, the test will be postponed until the following Wednesday.
The 2019 testing schedule is as follows:
June 5
July 3
August 7
September 4
October 2
November 6
December 4
