By AccessWDUN Staff

GAINESVILLE – North Hall only needed two innings to knock off Dawson County, 6-3, and take the best of three series Thursday afternoon at Jody Davis Field.

Jackson Dyer pitched six innings for the Trojans (3-7, 2-1), allowing two runs on six hits and struck out five Tigers.

Dawson’s Hudson Sapp opened the game with a home run blast over the right field fence, giving the Tigers (3-2, 1-2) the early momentum and a 1-0 advantage going to the bottom of the first.

But the momentum didn’t last long for the Tiger defense. Dawson pitcher Brandon Cramer struggled to find a rhythm after grabbing the first out of the inning. Cramer walked three straight to load the bases, then walked Tyler Brooks, which scored Daniel Seavey to tie the game at 1-1.

Two batters later, Cramer was called for a balk, scoring Caleb Wiley. North Hall scored two more runs off a Tiger error. Both Wes Tadman and Brooks strolled home, giving the Trojans a 4-1 lead.

The Tigers added run in the second off a sacrifice fly from Jackson Verhoven to centerfield. The fly scored Kristian Kelly.

The Trojans scored two more runs in the bottom of the second off a Dawson error.

Dawson’s TJ Allen scored the Tigers final run in the third inning off a ground out by Mauricio Hernandez.
