Braselton 17-year-old charged in connection with fatal crash

By B.J. Williams
A Braselton teen has been charged in a crash last weekend that killed an elderly Athens woman.

The Georgia State Patrol report indicates the victim, 83-year-old Iree H. Logan, was a passenger in a vehicle that was hit by a Honda Accord being driven by 17-year-old Alexander Michael Olino.

The report said Olino was traveling northbound on US Highway 129 (GA 11) and was attempting to make a left turn onto the ramp to I-85 southbound near Jefferson. As he made the turn, his vehicle struck a Chrysler sedan that was traveling southbound on US Highway 129.

The report said Olino apparently failed to yield at a solid green light and hit the car carrying Logan and two other people.

Olino has been charged with vehicular homicide in the second degree and failure to yield while turning left.

Olino and two of the three teenage passengers in his vehicle were injured. The driver and another passenger in the Chrysler were injured.

The fatal crash occurred just before 8:30 p.m. on Saturday, December 10.
