To know Jill was to love her. She showed so much love to everyone. She was an incredible mother to her babies. A lifelong loving friend, a true genuine, caring loving soul. Jill took pride in serving children and families within the Headstart Program, operated by Ninth District Opportunity, Inc. Jill is a “True Warrior”, she fought the good fight and “won” the battle many times. Jill said it best on December 23, 2019. She posted the following…

“In December 1981, my parents got the news that NO parent ever wants to hear about their baby. Your child has CANCER! Dec 8th the told my parents, Dec 22 they did surgery to remove what they could. In January they said it was Ewing's Sarcoma. A rare childhood bone cancer. (Typically in arms and leg bones) mine was on my Cervical and Thoracic vertebrae. Yes, in my neck. I started some very very harsh chemotherapy and radiation. Yes I do remember certain things that happened during this time of my life. Granted I was 3 when diagnosed and 5 when I had my very last Chemotherapy and Radiation. One week later I was sick, in the hospital again but this time it wasn't cancer. I was in Congestive Heart Failure. You see my chemotherapy was so harsh it damaged my heart (got rid of the cancer though) So I now have Cardiomyopathy secondary to Adriamyocin (the red devil, chemo) I fought for  20 years to keep my heart beating and healthy. In 2003, I gave that old heart a fling and became a Heart Transplant recipient.  Life changed friends. I felt alive, like I felt energized, warm, I could BREATHE! I went from that sick little bald head girl to the girl that found her soul mate. The man that accepted and loved me for who I was, just the way I was. All frail and sickly. He stood right by my side and held my hand,  wiped my tears, gave me my meds, cooked and cleaned, pampered and LOVED me through it all. October 2007 he made me his wife. People say he is a lucky man, but the truth is I am the lucky one.  My daddy's friend James Cash once told me that the angels sent Joe to me. James you are absolutely right, they did. Friends Im rambling on because not many people find a love so true like the one Joe and I share. Yes we have definitely had our differences, ups and downs, wanted to kill each other. But at the end of the day we are exactly where we want to be. By each others side. God Blessed us with a Donor Heart. Another family lost a loved one. They loved someone so very much they allowed them to live on by organ donation. Tis the season for lots of travels and accidents multiply. Be sure to let your family know your wishes to be an organ and tissue donor.”

Heaven gained an amazing angel. Jill, you are our HERO! As saddened and shocked as we all are, we know your health has been restored. You are in Heaven shining down!

Fly High Baby Girl!
