Terry Richard McFarland

April 24, 1950 - November 4, 2019

Terry passed away peacefully at home on Monday, November 4, 2019.

A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, November 14, 2019 at Memorial Park North Chapel at 11:00 AM. The family will receive friends and family one hour prior to the service from 10-11:00 AM.

Terry was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence Edward and Florine Crane McFarland; brother and sister, Charles and Tammy McFarland.

He is survived by his loving wife, Barbara Chambers McFarland; children, Joy, Brooks and Heath; ten grandchildren; sister and brothers, Linda, Ronald and Donald; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Terry took deep pride in serving his country in the United States Air Force for four years, at which time he served two tours in Viet Nam. He retired from Norfolk Southern Railroad after 38 years of service as Chief Engineer.

After retirement Terry pursued many activities with family and friends and especially enjoyed fishing with nephews Damon and David and golfing with his Gainesville High School buddies and others. He was always ready at a moments' notice to help family and friends in need, traveling at length to do so. All he ever expected in return was a thank you. Terry lived by example, teaching those he loved many life skills to enable independence. He will be missed by all for his love and devotion to others.
