James Robert "Bob" Smith, Jr.

SMITH, James Robert "Bob" Jr., age 72, of Dahlonega, Georgia passed away peacefully on August 29, 2019, after a short illness, surrounded by family and friends at Seasons Hospice of Cumming, Georgia.  Bob was a wonderful and devoted husband to his wife, Cindy, and a friend to many.  Bob was dearly loved, he will be missed, and his memory will always be cherished.

Bob was the son of Gladys and James Robert Smith, Sr. and grew up in Marathon, Florida.  Bob married Cynthia Brissette Moore in 1990 and lived in Jupiter, Florida until a retirement move to Dahlonega, Georgia in 2013.  Bob was an independent business owner and worked for many years as a glazer, but his joy was found in his second career as an expert private and commercial pilot who shared his love of flying with all around him.  He was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church in Dahlonega, Georgia.

Bob precedes in death his sister Patricia Patterson.  He also leaves behind many children, grandchildren, and a great-grandchild.  His children and stepchildren include Kimberly Rojas, Kristeen Brent, Christopher Smith, Nicole Lunsford, and Karl Moore.  Grandchildren include Christina Woodard, Kaitlin Schultz, Ryan Smith, Tyler Lunsford, Lauren Smith, Jordan Lunsford, Ashley Moore-Mick, Kyle Moore, John Rojas, Jr., Aidan Moore, Logan Lunsford, Dylan Brent, and Aspen Moore.  His great grandchild is Penelope Smith.

The family is planning a memorial celebration of his life to be held at St. Paul Church in Dahlonega, Georgia.  The family requests that in lieu of flowers that donations of remembrance are made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital of Memphis.
