Russell E. . Childers

Obituary Date: Tuesday, April 23, 2019

Russell E. Childers passed away on April 23, 2019, following a sudden illness.  He was born in Atlanta, Georgia on January 26, 1956, to Robert Childers and Marell Waters Childers.

Russell was a very kind, loving and compassionate man and will be greatly missed. He enjoyed studying science and particularly Astronomy.  On a clear night, one could find Russell setting up his telescope and observing the stars while being able to identify many of them.  He was also a very talented, self-taught guitarist and song writer. 

Russell met his wife Mandy in 1976 while they were both students at Lanier Tech.  They became inseparable from that point forward and married in 1984.  

Russell was predeceased by his parents and a brother, Randy Childers.

Surviving are his wife, Mandy Childers; mother in law, Nell Mitchell of Calhoun, Georgia;  brother in law Wes Mitchell and his wife, Darlene Mitchell, Calhoun, Georgia;  sister, Sandra Childers;  nieces, Michelle Blackmon, Melissa Hall, and Candi Kinsey; nephews, Robbie Childers and Dustin Bennett.

Also surviving are his beloved cats: Blue, Grady, JoJo, Cole, Bailey, and Max.

A memorial service will be held at Memorial Park Funeral Home on Saturday, April 27, 2019 at 2:00 P.M. with visitation two hours prior to the service.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Hall County Humane Society, Gainesville, Georgia, in memory of Russell.
