Fay Brookshire Newton

Fay Brookshire Newton, age 84, of Demorest, Georgia passed away on Thursday, January 11, 2018 following an extended illness.

Mrs. Newton was born on September 29, 1933 in Clarkesville, Georgia to the late Frank James and Carrie Burrell Brookshire. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Julian Isaac Newton, Jr.; twin brothers, Garlin and Arlin Brookshire; and nephew, Mitch Humphries. Mrs. Newton was a member of Mt. Carmel Baptist Church in Demorest. She was also a member of the Demorest Women’s Club and Daughters of the Confederacy. Mrs. Newton loved square dancing. She retired from JC Penny with 30 plus years of loyal and dedicated service.

Survivors include her sisters, Wilma Brookshire Humphries, of Demorest; Mildred Brookshire Locke, of Lula; five nieces and four nephews.

Funeral Services will be held at 3:00 p.m., Saturday, January 13, 2018 at Whitfield Funeral Home, North Chapel with Rev. Russ Barker and Rev. Josh Taylor officiating.  Interment will follow in Yonah Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until the service hour on Saturday, January 13, 2018 at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mt. Carmel Baptist Church, 988 Historic Hwy 441 N, Demorest, Georgia 30535
