Paul “Shorty” J. Hanes, 87, of Braselton, GA, passed away on Sunday, May 29, 2016 at Northeast Georgia Medical Center following an extended illness. Funeral services are scheduled for Tuesday, May 31, 2016 at 3:30 p.m. in the Chapel of Memorial Park Funeral Home with interment to follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. Rev. Gary Carlise will officiate. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, May 31, 2016 from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
Mr. Hanes was born on February 8, 1929 in Hall County, GA. to the late Harrison Hanes and Dora Deaton Hanes. He was retired from Chicopee Mfg. Co. He was a member of Chestnut Mountain Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers: Clyde Hanes, Ralph Hanes and Talmaldge Hanes; sisters: Jessie Dean Weaver, Willie Mae Jones, Addie Line Harrison, Fannie Lou Pierce, Althea Lee Kendrick, and Ruby Nell Gee.
He is survived by his brother and sister-in-law, James and Jessie Hanes of Cleveland, GA., and a number of nieces and nephews.
