Mr. Edward “Eddie” J. Thompson, age 73, of Lula, Georgia, passed away Wednesday, January 27, 2016.
Funeral services are scheduled for 3:00 pm Sunday, January 31, 2016 at Memorial Park North Riverside Chapel. Reverend Jimmy Ellis will officiate. The family will receive friends from 1 to 3 pm prior to the service at the funeral home.
Eddie was born February 13, 1942 in Gainesville, Georgia. He was the son of the late Young James Thompson and Vicie Jean (Dyer) Thompson. He was a retired tree surgeon with Wade Tree Service. Eddie had a passion for “Toys for Tots” and implemented the “Men in Black”, growing a vegetable garden and yard sales at the Senior Center to benefit Toys for Tots. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Randall “Pete” Thompson; brother, Melvin Thompson and sister, Lois Thompson.
He is survived by his son, Stanley Thompson of Cleveland; daughter, Wendy Thompson of Cleveland; son and daughter-in-law, Adam and Erica Thompson of Oneida, KY; fiancé of 8 years, Annette Looper of Lula; children, Luke and Margarita Beasley, Paul Beasley, Peggy and Joe Schmidt all of Gainesville; Dorie and William Barton of Alto, and Janna Beasley of Cornelia; sister, Frances Dooley of Flowery Branch; and brother, James Thompson of Demorest; a number of grandchildren and other family and friends also survive.
In lieu of flowers the family has requested donations be made to the American Heart Association 1101 Northchase Parkway Suite 1 Marietta, GA 30067.
