Thomas Hudson Echols

Thomas Hudson Echols, age 79 of Alto, passed away Wednesday, December 23, 2015 at his residence.

Born in Lula, Georgia on October 20, 1936, he was a son of the late Henry Harrison Echols and Eunice Elouise Kimsey Echols. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by a son in law, Alvin Cecil Sosebee; brother, Howard Echols; brother in law, James Turner, and brother in law Virlyn Kimsey.

Mr. Echols attended Mud Creek Baptist Church.  He enjoyed being outdoors; working in his yard, gardening, and fishing.  In his later years, He enjoyed working at Quality Foods and socializing with the customers who came through.

Mr. Echols is survived by his wife of 54 years, Janice Gerrin Echols of Alto; son, Jeffrey Echols (Patricia)Toccoa; daughters, Jan Hix ( Danny) Alto, Donna Sosebee, Lula; brothers, Wendell Echols (Elaine) Alto; sister in law, Margaret Echols, Baldwin; sisters, Jane Murphy (Grover), Alto, Dorthy Merle Turner, Lula, Martha Kinsey, Mt. Airy; grandchildren, Heather McDaniel, Baldwin, Brianna Echols, Japan, Hannah Hix, Crystal Caudell, and Kara Hix, all of Alto; 5 great grandchildren.

Funeral Services are scheduled for 2 PM, Sunday, December 27, 2015 in the chapel of McGahee-Griffin and Stewart Funeral Home with the Bishop Clarence Reynolds and the Rev. Billy Burrell officiating. Internment will follow in the Yonah Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 4-8 PM on Saturday.
