Walter Harvey Robitaille

Walter Harvey Robitaille, 87, of Gainesville passed away on Wednesday, January 21, 2015 at New Horizon following an extended illness.


Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 24, 2015 at 2:00 pm in the Chapel of Memorial Park Funeral Home with Interment to follow in Kennesaw Memorial Park Cemetery for family only, Deacon Mike Kennedy will officiate. The family will receive friends on Saturday, January 24, 2015 from 1-2 pm at the funeral home.


Mr. Robitaille was born on October 3, 1927 in Dracut, Massachusetts to the late Eva and Ted Robitaille. Mr. Robitaille, retired US Navy veteran of three wars, WWII, Korea and Vietnam Nam. A tireless caregiver to his loving wife who suffered from memory loss, a loving father who suffered the loss of his only son in a tragic accident, he delighted in the birth of his granddaughters and recent birth of two great granddaughters and grandson. He enjoyed wood working, French caning, traveling, fishing, camping, visiting National Parks across the country, bowling on a league in Oakwood and enjoying the antics of their five dogs! He was a member of St. Michael's Church, where he was a member of the Rosary Society, hand beading over 1,000 Rosaries to be given to our active duty troops. He was an active member of The Fleet Reserve and the family request donations to The DAVets in Lieu of flowers.

Mr. Robitaille was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 60 years, Nanette (Sicard) and their son, Robert Robitaille in 1976. He is survived by his daughters and their husbands, Jan (Greg Wojcik) of Atlanta and Elaine (Michael Fulbright) of Balsam, N.C., two granddaughters, and their husbands, Paige Wojcik (Will Lozier) of Atlanta, GA and Lyndsay Wojcik (Craig Larimer) of CO, great grandchildren, Lily and Charley Lozier and Everett Larimer, two sister, Germaine (Robitaille) Vivier and Therese (Robitaille) Vincent of Dracut, MA as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

His strength and spirt will remain in the hearts of those who he loved forever.
