Charles McPherson

Obituary Date: Sunday, September 14, 2014

Charles McPherson, age 79, of Cumming, passed away Sunday, September 14th, 2014. He was a devoted husband, loving father, grandfather and great grandfather. Charles was a life time member of New Harmony Baptist Church. He was active in the establishment of Forsyth County Youth Athletic Programs, responsible civically, and served on several county boards. He taught Sunday School at New Harmony Baptist Church for many years and began a Boy Scout troop in Ducktown. He was instrumental in the writing of The Hightower Baptist Association's Ministerial History Book. Charles was a 50 year member of Ducktown Lodge #572 F&AM. He retired from Lockheed Aircraft after 41 years as an Engineer. He was an avid boater enjoying many family hours boating and pulling skiers.



Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Christine (Tean) McPherson; children, Melvin and Sandra McPherson, Jenny and Hugh McMillian, Marty and Freida McPherson, Jill and David Thomas, Cory and Toni McPherson; sister and brother-in-law, Betty and Jim Adams; brothers and sisters-in-law, Wayne McPherson, Lamar and Pam McPherson, Llennell McPherson; grandchildren, Stephen and Kristy McPherson. Amy and Brett Boutwell, Kristi and Brandon Watson, Bridget and Dustin Martin, Asa McMillian, Eddie Thomas, Emily and Garrison Johnson, Heidi, John David and Sarah McPherson; and 5 great grandchildren.



Funeral services will be held Wednesday, September 17th at 1:00 pm at New Harmony Baptist Church with Rev. Johnny Purcell, Rev. Johnny Padgett and Rev. Danny Orr officiating. Interment will follow at Sawnee View Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at Ingram Funeral Home on Tuesday from 2:00 pm until 4:00 pm and 6:00 pm until 9:00 pm and Wednesday from 10:00 am until hour of the service.



In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Charles's memory to the Hightower Baptist Association Food and Clothing Bank, c/o Earl Groover, P. O. Box 2008, Cumming, GA 30028.
