Dorothy Eulaine Bowers Cochran

Mrs. Dorothy Eulaine Bowers Cochran, age 91, of Toccoa, Georgia entered into eternal rest Monday, November 11, 2013.

She was born July 6, 1922 in Royston, Georgia, the daughter of the late Asa and Rosa Bowers. She graduated from Emanuel College and received her Masters of Education from the University of Georgia. She taught in the Stephens County School System for 33 years, retiring in 1987. Mrs. Cochran was the 1976 State Star Teacher. As a member of the First United Methodist Church she served on the altar guild, was a member of the United Methodist Women, chancel choir, and the Off Beat Band. She was a member of the Stephens County Retired Educators Association, the Women's Auxiliary of the VFW, and the Toccoa Garden Club. She was preceded in death by her husband William Madison (Bill) Cochran, her daughter Nancy Claire Cochran, and brothers Erwin Bowers, Luther Bowers, Gordon Bowers and Jack Bowers, and a sister, Mary Galland. Dorothy loved her family and was a loving and devoted mother and grandmother.

Survivors include her sister, Lillian Bowers Payne, her daughter Eulaine and her husband Walter Daves, her son Bill and daughter-in-law Amelia Cochran, grandchildren Patti and Barry Adkins, Brent and Renee Whiten, Ryan Cochran, Alison and Zach Shelton, Lori and Tommy Gilmer, Trey and Ileyana Daves; Great grandchildren, Madison Adkins, Jackson, Ava and Jake Whiten, Samuel Asa Cochran, Olivia Claire Shelton, Anna, Walker and Kate Gilmer, Sophia and Dru Daves and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Funeral service will be Thursday, November 14, at 11 O'clock AM at The First United Methodist Church with the Reverend Dr. John Brown, the Reverend Jerrell Beatty and the Reverend Truitt Brawner officiating. The following gentlemen will serve as pallbearers, Trey Daves, Barry Adkins, Camran Fleming, Sam Church, Tommy Gilmer and Dave Grove.

The family will be at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Walter Daves, 585 Addington Drive and will receive friends at the Acree-Davis Funeral Home on Wednesday from 6 PM to 8 PM and on Thursday from 9:30 AM until service time.

Interment will follow in the Toccoa City Cemetery with Acree-Davis Funeral Home in charge of arrangements for Mrs. Dorothy Eulaine Bowers Cochran.
