Samuel "Tumpy" Evans

Mr. Samuel "Tumpy" Evans, age 99, of Commerce, GA died Saturday, September 7, 2013 at Athens Regional Medical Center.

Mr. Evans was born in Franklin County to the late Claude and Renie Hart Evans. He was a United States Army veteran and was retired from Harmony Grove Mills.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Evans was preceded in death by his wife, Geneva Bray Evans.

Mr. Evans is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Martha and Jerry Lewallen of Commerce; brother, Stewart Evans of Commerce; granddaughters and grandsons-in-law, Amanda and Brian Wilson of Commerce and Melanie and Chris Giddens of Silver Creek; great-grandchildren, Katlin and Mitchell Wilson both of Commerce and Jake Giddens of Silver Creek.

Funeral services will be at 11 AM, Tuesday, September 10 at the chapel of Little-Ward Funeral Home with Rev. Chad Payne officiating. Interment will follow in Grey Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Monday from 6 to 8 PM.
