Michele Keller Chesnut

Obituary Date: Friday, March 15, 2013


Michele Keller Chesnut of Cumming GA was in a fatal accident on Friday afternoon March 15th at 4:10 pm while cycling with friends at Neal's Gap, north of Dahlonega, on Highway 129. An SUV crossed the road hitting Michele head-on. Michele Chesnut died at the scene with her cycling friends by her side.

Michele is survived by her husband of nearly 30 years, Jim Chesnut and their 4 children, Adrienne (24), Alexander (22), Alivia (19) and James (16). She leaves behind 2 sisters Anne Keller and Diana Weekly both of Cumming, GA, two brothers Steve Martinez of Myrtle Point OR and David Keller of Salisbury, MD, along with nieces Devon Moose of Boston MA, Shauna Gomez, Taylor Chesnut, Cayden Chesnut, Sarah Chesnut and nephews Johnson Keller and John Weekly all of Cumming, GA. She also leaves behind her mother-in-law and father-in-law Alex and Regina Chesnut of Big Canoe, GA and her brother-in-law, Brad Chesnut of Cumming. Michele's parents Fred and Gloria Keller of Coos Bay, OR preceded her in death.

Michele Chesnut graduated from Grissom high school in Huntsville AL and obtained her Pharmacy Degree at Auburn University in 1982. She and Jim married in 1983 and moved to Cumming GA. Michele has been a member of the Cumming First United Methodist Church for the past 25 years. She was an active member of the church focusing her efforts at the food pantry. Michele also participated with "Meals on Wheels", the Methodist Women's Club, the American Cancer Society and random acts of kindness and love to others.

Michele worked for Walmart Pharmacy for over 23 years and had worked as a pharmacist at Goodson Drugs in Cumming. Michele loved spending time with her family and all types of outdoor activities including hiking, boating, travel, her dogs Moe, OZ, and Huck and yes, her favorite sport Cycling. Our hearts are broken with this loss
