Minnie Crenshaw Turner

Minnie Crenshaw Turner, age 93, of Alto, Georgia, passed away on Friday, December 7, 2012, at her residence following a sudden illness.

Mrs. Turner was born on January 8, 1919, in Banks County, Georgia, to the late Jesse and Chalcie Parson Crenshaw. She was also preceded in death by her husband, John Wesley Turner; step-sons, William Turner, Robert Turner, and Joe Turner; sisters, Margie Wade, Mae Morris, Sallie Thompson, Lila Ferguson, Dessie Potts, and Laura Echols; and brothers, Felton Crenshaw, Curtis Crenshaw, and Pierce Crenshaw. Mrs. Turner was formerly employed with New Holland Mills and Riegel Textile Corporation, now known as Mt. Vernon Mills. She was the oldest living member of Cornelia Congregational Holiness Church.


Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Kenneth and Tanoa Turner, Alto, GA; son, Tearle Turner, Baldwin, GA; step-son and stepdaughter-in-law, Mac and Jean Turner, Baldwin, GA; daughters-in-law, Hazel Howard, Cleveland, GA and Mavis Turner, Marietta, GA; grandchildren, Stefanie Eaton and her husband, Michael, Matthew Turner, Kenza Turner, and Kyran Turner; and 13 step-grandchildren.



Funeral services will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, December 9, 2012, at Whitfield Funeral Home, South Chapel, Baldwin, Georgia with Rev. Terry Benfield officiating. Interment will follow in Yonah Memorial Gardens with Rev. Scott Ledbetter officiating.



The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. on Saturday, December 8, 2012, at the funeral home.
