Paul Hardman

Mr. Paul Hardman "Hart" Grizzle, Sr. age 94 of Gainesville passed away Saturday morning September 22, 2012 at the Gold City Convalescent Center, Dahlonega, Ga. after an extended illness. He was surrounded by his loving family. Hart, as he was known to his many friends, was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather.

He was born on January 27, 1918 in Hoschton, Georgia to Rev. John Thomas and Bitha Mobley Grizzle. He lived most of his life in Gainesville, Ga., but had lived in Dahlonega for the past five years with his son Paul and daughter-in-law Libby.

During World War II, Hart helped build numerous ships, including the Midway, in Newport News, Virginia. He managed the Firestone Store in Gainesville for many years. Mr. Grizzle was a member of the Central Baptist Church in Gainesville.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his loving wife of 61 years, Mildred Anderson Grizzle, two sisters, Mary Propes and Sarah Propes, brothers, John and Chester Grizzle.

Survivors include his sons and daughters-in-law; Tony and Ruth Grizzle, Oakwood; Paul and Libby Grizzle, Dahlonega; grandchildren, Sherrie and Bill Bryant, Murrayville; Katie Grizzle, Flowery Branch; Angie Grizzle, Pensacola, Florida; Blake and Kim Grizzle, Dahlonega; Ryan and Kay Grizzle, Dahlonega; great grandchildren; Waylan and Thomas Grizzle, Hannah and Haley Grizzle, Zach Grizzle, Christopher Bryant, Koda Venable and a number of nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday September 25, 2012 at the Chattahoochee Baptist Church Cemetery in Flowery Branch,Ga., The Rev. Tony Allison will officiate. The family will receive friends at the Little & Davenport Funeral Home Tuesday September 25, 2012 from 12:30 p.m. until 1:30 p.m.

The family would like to extended a special thanks and appreciation to the nurses and staff at Gold City and the hospice nurses of Homestead Hospice for their care and comfort to Mr. Grizzle during his illness. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Homestead Hospice, 10888 Crabapple Road, Roswell, Ga. 30075.
