Dewey Winford Caudell

Dewey Winford Caudell, age 83, of Mt Airy, passed away Thursday, May 26, 2011 at the residence following an extended illness.
Born in Banks County on March 30, 1928, he was the son of the late Luther Calvin and Mary Etta Caudell. In addition to his parents, Mr. Caudell was preceded in death by his brothers, Broadus Caudell, James Buford Caudell and sisters, Annese Caudell and Louise Short.
Mr. Caudell was a self employed farmer and business owner, a veteran of the United States Army, a member of Damascus Baptist Church, and a life member of VFW Post #7720. He enjoyed fishing and hunting and spending time with his children and grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Mary Anne Caudell of the home; daughters, Pam Veatch of Gainesville; daughter and son-in-law, Lynn & Michael Hosch of Buford; son and daughter in-law, Doug and Donna Caudell of Mt Airy; sister, Kitty Caudell of Baldwin; grandchildren, Kara & Will Head, Clinton Veatch, Derrick Caudell, Caitlin & Daniel Moss, Ashley & Ethan Vandiver, Kyler Hosch, Dianna Caudell and Dillon Caudell.

Funeral services are 2:00 pm Sunday, May 29, 2011 at the Chapel of McGahee-Griffin and Stewart with Rev. Milton Harris officiating. Interment will follow in Level Grove Cemetery, with military honors by the Habersham County American Legion Post #84, Grant Reeves VFW Post #7720 and the Rabun County DAV Chapter #15.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Saturday.
