Coach Wayne J. Bradshaw, age 67, of Gainesville , Georgia , passed away Saturday, February 05, 2011, in Union County , Georgia .

Graveside services will be held at 11:00 am Tuesday, February 08, 2011 at Resthaven Cemetery in Washington , Georgia. Celebration of Life Service will be held at 4:00 pm Tuesday, February 08, 2011 at St. Paul United Methodist Church , Washington Street in Gainesville . The Reverend Calvin Haney and Reverend Lane Jenkins will officiate. The family will receive friends from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm Monday, February 07, 2011 at Memorial Park North Riverside Chapel in Gainesville .

Coach Bradshaw was born March 31, 1943 in Jacksonville , FL and was the son of the late J. Donald Bradshaw and Dorothy D. Bradshaw of Deland, FL. After graduating from the University of Georgia in 1965, he began his 35-year high school coaching career in Washington, GA. While serving under Charlie Davidson, he helped lead the Tigers to two state championships. After that, he coached for two years at Darlington School in Rome, GA. In 1974, he became the head football coach at Morgan County High School where he led them to two 10-0 seasons and to the state quarter-finals. Finishing up his coaching career at East Hall High School from 1987 to 2000, he led them to one 10-0 season and made it to the state quarterfinals 3 times. He was a charter member of the Georgia Athletic Coaches Association, and he also served on the Hall of Fame Committee. He was named Northeast Area Coach of the Year in 1987, 1990, 1991. He was also named Gainesville Times Area Coach of the Year in 1993. Bradshaw coached in the Georgia-Florida All-Star game in 1995. He was awarded the Bobby Gruhn Lifetime Achievement Award in 2000. He served as head coach in the North-South All-Star game in 2000. He was an active member of St. Paul United Methodist Church. Wayne was an avid hiker, camper and loved sharing the outdoors with his grandchildren.

Coach Bradshaw is survived by his wife, Doris Dyson Bradshaw of Gainesville, GA; daughters and sons-in-law, Kari and Kerry Kidd and Kim and Chris Raines both of Gainesville, GA; sons and daughters-in-law, Bo and Christy Bradshaw of Rome, GA; and Joe and Alisha Bradshaw of Gainesville; grandchildren, Forrest, Walker, Warren and Wilkes Kidd; Cody, Shelby and Ely Raines; Madison, Emily and James Bradshaw; and Charlie and Nora Beth Bradshaw. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Van Bradshaw.

In lieu of flowers the family has requested donations be made to St. Paul United Methodist Church Building Fund 104 Washington Street Gainesville, Georgia 30501.
